In 1951, David Dodd, Jr. assumed full-time management responsibilities of the company, moving the company headquarters to Monroe where the company is still located today and remains Union County’s leading pest control service provider. The name of the company was changed in 1982 to Carolina Termite and Pest Control, Inc. in order to reflect changing technologies that are less dependent upon chemical methods of pest control. David Dodd, III succeeded his father and now serves as CEO, representing the third generation of family management. The company expanded operations into Mecklenburg and surrounding counties and is currently recognized as one of the top pest control companies in the area. In 1999, the company changed its name to Carolina Pest Management, Inc. to again reflect current changes in the pest control industry. The company is now in its 4th generation of family management with Kristin Dodd-Tarleton as President, Sarah Dodd as Office Manager, Laura Dodd as Finance and Marketing Manager, as well as David Craig as General Manager (over 25 years with the company) and Phillip Parker as Manager of the Termite Department (over 20 years with the company). In 2003, Carolina Pest purchased an existing pest control company and opened its first branch office in Rockingham, NC, operating as Carolina Sandhills Pest Management. In 2009, Carolina Pest purchased Providence Pest Solutions, with former owner Chuck Davis joining the Carolina Pest team. Carolina Pest Management is an active member of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) www.pestworld.org, the NC Pest Management Association (NCPMA) www.ncpestmanagement.org/, the South Carolina Pest Control Association (SCPCA) www.scpca.net, the Better Business Bureau, as well as several local Chambers of Commerce. The company is also a proud member of the PestOne organization, a network of some of the top independent pest management companies in the United States. Carolina Pest is also certified as Quality Pro by the NPMA. Our company was founded in 1939 by David Dodd, Sr., a retired Methodist Minister. Rev. Dodd became involved in the pest control business by helping his fellow man. Times had been hard in the 1930’s and a man from up north was passing through looking for work to feed his family. He called upon Rev. Dodd for help and since he had been trained in pest control, Rev. Dodd suggested they open a business in the industry. Thus, Carolina Chemical and Pest Control had its beginning.
