Not All Pests Are Dangerous- a Balanced Approach to Pest Management

Some people make the mistaken assumption that pest control companies are all about one thing: killing critters. It’s an unfortunate assumption and in actuality, that is not the case. Pest control companies have the obvious primary goal of making one’s home or business comfortable and untainted by the presence of pests that harm your quality of life. That said, good pest control companies realize that going in with a “kill ’em all” approach is not the best way to go about business! We want to keep clients happy, and clients who see pests on their property, justifiably want them gone!

But those of us in the industry must never forget that part of our job, perhaps the most important part, is to educate our customers about what exactly they are encountering. Occasionally that involves telling them that the best way forward is not simply to wipe out the invaders, but rather to take a more measured approach and to use soft power- maybe certain exclusion practices- and, well, patience. Some pests will run their course fairly quickly and won’t harm ones family or property. In such cases, if the client is on board with the plan, we might go with that less active approach. It might cost us a bit of money since we choose not to go in as hard as we can with as many services we can sell, but it fits in with our GREEN philosophy and helps us maintain the balance between managing pests and preserving the environment.

Being environmentally conscious and keeping our customers happy and satisfied are not mutually exclusive goals. Look at our name- Carolina Pest MANAGEMENT. That last word means so much to us- we don’t exterminate without care or concern, but rather manage our clients’ environments and therefore to an extent their quality of life. It’s all about satisfying our customers while taking the long, environmental view. A good company can check both of those boxes- and that’s one reason Carolina Pest Management has the stellar reputation it does. We care, and our clients know it.
