After the application deadline, which is February 28, 2017 at 11:59 p.m., a panel of judges that work with or directly for Carolina Pest Management will review all entries received prior to the deadline. Essays are judged on creativity, writing quality, research, and overall strength of essay. The winner will be announced on March 31, 2017 on www.carolinapest.com and will be notified via the email that was submitted with essay entry. The recipient’s essay will be shared on carolinapest.com’s website, social media vehicles, and other marketing channels to promote the winner.
Carolina Pest Management reserves the right to select an alternative applicant or not to award the scholarship if the winner fails to contact Carolina Pest Management within 7 days of being notified. Carolina Pest Management also reserves the right to withhold donation funds to any non-profit they determine conflicts with their company’s values and will suggest to the winner to select an alternative organization.
All applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents of the United States.
Applicant must be a current senior high school or home school student and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4-point scale and must have taken either the ACT or SAT test. Applicant must be earning a GED or high school diploma between January 1, 2017 and August 1, 2017 and will be attending an accredited college or university in North Carolina or South Carolina by Fall semester 2017.
Applicant must have a cumulative college GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4-point scale, and be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university in North Carolina or South Carolina between August 1, 2016 and December 31, 2017.
Applicant must provide their contact information and submit their 1,000 to 1,500-word essay through the "Submit an Essay" button.
Only one (1) applicant will receive a one-time $1,000 scholarship that can be applied to college expenses, such as; tuition, fees, books, or on-campus housing as well as a $1,000 match donation to a non-profit organization of the winner’s choice. Funds are provided by Carolina Pest Management and will be made payable directly to the scholarship winner and the non-profit organization.
