Monroe, NC Teammates Create a Day Filled with Art, Laughter, and Friendship at local Nursing Center
The Carolina Pest team traded in their sprayers for paintbrushes during a special visit to the Jesse Helms Nursing Center in Monroe, North Carolina.
Teammates spent quality time with residents, encouraging them to express their creativity through a fun vase-painting and decorating activity. As colorful designs began to take shape, residents and teammates also used craft supplies to create festive headbands, adding even more laughter and personality to the experience. By the end of the visit, each vase had become a one-of-a-kind masterpiece—a reflection of its creator.
Activities like vase painting offer more than just a creative outlet. Research shows that creative arts programs can help older adults reduce feelings of loneliness and depression while promoting social connection and emotional well-being.
While teammates viewed the visit as an opportunity to give back to the community, the hope was the time, and encouragement would support meaningful connections and joyful experiences for the residents.
“We’ve worked with the Jesse Helms Nursing Center for more than a year now,” said Jasmine Bergamini, Good Deed Team Ambassador. “I reached out to several organizations hoping to build a partnership, and Ms. Emily, Jesse Helms Nursing Center activities director, got back to me with interest. From that single connection, we exchanged information, and we’ve been working together to create meaningful moments ever since.”
Teammates made their first visit to the center in February 2025 when they delivered Valentine’s Day cards to the residents. They returned in May to help seniors create tie-dye shirts and visited again later that same month to hand out Easter baskets.
Moments like these remind us that even small acts of service can make a meaningful difference. Whether it’s sharing a skill, lending a helping hand, or simply spending time with others, we encourage everyone to seek opportunities to connect with and support the communities we serve. Together, we can continue creating lasting impacts, one meaningful interaction at a time.
