Why we Offer Natural Pest Control and Organic Pest Control

pest control exterminator spraying door

We believe it is highly important to protect the environment by using as many natural pest control and organic pest control options as possible. In addition to our standard pest control services, we offer pest control services designed to be “green.” These programs can be customized to work within a customer’s threshold for chemicals and pests.

Completely natural pest control methods, such as using organisms like nematodes, parasites, or fungi, have not been proven effective enough for widespread applications. Fortunately, Carolina Pest Management can prevent and correct numerous pest problems with minimal chemical pesticide application.

Environmentally-friendly Pest Control Treatment

We can use a variety of mechanical (non-chemical) methods for “green” pest control, including

  • Exclusion techniques
  • Trapping
  • Insect-specific baits

As an Authorized Operator for the Sentricon Termite Baiting System, a low-toxicity method of treating and monitoring for termites, we offer an environmentally responsible termite elimination plan for your home or business.

We offer similarly responsible plans to control other common pests. We can also integrate organic pest control services into monthly treatments using various botanical-based insecticides.

Child-Safe Pest Control Options

While no pest control is 100% safe, there are many methods that reduce the risk for families with infants and young children. Our technicians will work with your family to find the safest pest control options and their most effective application.

Choosing green and organic solutions is often the best way to implement safe pest control, as it uses fewer harsh chemicals that could pose a danger to your child. And with Carolina Pest IPM methods (Integrated Pest Management), sometimes the best pest control choice is to avoid using pesticides completely!

Carolina Pest offers several pest control methods that are designed to work in households with children. We’ll recommend the best pest control method for your family, informing you of any precautions you need to take.

In most cases, however, no special changes need to be made. For example, baited traps are often a good example of child-safe pest control because they can be placed in areas that make it unlikely children will be exposed to them.

Choosing Organic Pest Control Services over Traditional Methods

Natural pest control services offered by Carolina Pest Management can perform as well as and sometimes even better than chemical pesticides, while being non-toxic, safe, and fitting your budget. Some individuals think of green pest control as a weakened approach to extermination, however this could not be further from the truth. The Center of Disease Control (CDC) reports that 90 percent of Americans have a mixture of up to 43 pesticides in our bodies. Several of these chemicals have been linked to health problems such as birth defects, cancer, reproductive health concerns and neurological issues. We provide organic pest control solutions that strengthen your home against pests without sacrificing your health. These same methods also pose the least amount of danger to the environment.

Many of our non-toxic pest control solutions are organic, which means different methods and a higher safety level. For example, organic pest control services often employ bait traps to capture and remove pests. They can also use a combination of biological ingredients, such as natural oils, with safer chemicals for environmentally friendly pest control. Choosing our organic services has many different advantages, including being safer for your family and pets along with being a highly efficient, eco-friendly pest control option.

Green Pest Control vs DIY Methods

We share your goals: we strive to provide the least toxic pest control programs possible. We pride ourselves on being able to customize services based on your needs and preferences. And be careful – there is a growing internet presence of overly zealous “Do It Yourself” organic pest control advocates. While entirely organic DIY pest control methods can be great for gardening and other endeavors, they can also be inadequate when it comes to protecting your most valuable assets such as your home and family.

Don’t risk the safety and integrity of your property and loved ones by trying to manage pest control yourself. Organic insecticides can be harmful if not handled and applied properly. For example, special care must always be taken to prevent contamination of water sources. It takes training and experience to be aware of and mitigate the potential dangers of pest control. While DIY solutions might be popular, nothing compares to the skill and expertise of a trained professional.

Frequently Asked Questions about Natural Pest Control

What is the difference between your regular service and the Green service?

Our Green Service is our Eco-Friendly Pest Control service. We use botanical based products for a natural and organic pest control solution. They are very effective and provide both quick knockdown and control against a wide variety of indoor and outdoor pests. Many of these products have plant oils as their active ingredients, which target and block a key neurotransmitter receptor site for octopamine. These receptors are found only in invertebrates, such as insects. Since mammals do not have these receptors these plant oils have no adverse effect on them. Our Green Service is a great option for treating environmentally sensitive areas.

What is the difference between an organic pest control treatment using baits compared to sprays?

For individuals that prefer not to have liquid chemicals applied in their home, bait treatments offer peace of mind. Many factors determine the type of treatment we implement such as the type of pest, the severity of the problem and location of the pests.

How can I minimize the presence of pests in my home?

Pests enjoy moldy dirty places and clutter. The first line of defense is to keep your yard and home tidy and clean. Inside the home: vacuum rugs often, keep kitchen counters and cabinets free of food debris, bathe pets, fix dripping faucets, and seal any cracks around windows and door frames. Clean up outdoor debris and put up barriers around your home to prevent entry points for pests.

Is pest control treatment harmful to my pets and children?

No special precautions are required for pest control treatments where children and pets are present. If an occupant has specific allergies or other medical concerns, we recommend they leave the treated area for 3-4 hours. We do recommend staying off of treated areas until they are dry. We are able to work around most concerns and offer Green pest control treatments for sensitive environments.

How does pet-friendly pest control work?

For pet-friendly pest control our technicians will evaluate your household and the types of pets you have, including factors such as the animal itself, its typical space within the house, and how likely it is that your pet will come into contact with the pest control method.  As with children (and even adults) pets should be kept away from treated areas while they are wet, and animals such as dogs may need to be kept away from some outdoor areas for several hours after treatment. Once the necessary time has passed, however, you and your pet can safely resume your regular routines. Our technicians will inspect your home and place any physical bait and traps in areas that your pets are unlikely to get into, decreasing the risk to your pets.
